Marcine Wilson

January 4, 1938 — December 6, 2020

Marcine H. Wilson, 82, passed away of natural causes at Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge, IA.  Marcine was born in Kewanee, Illinois the daughter of Hayden and Mae Heaton.  Marcine married her high school sweetheart Oliver Wilson on December 13, 1957.  They would have celebrated 63 years of marital bliss this December.  It was Marcine’s wish to be cremated.  A celebration of life will be held next spring in Stark County, Illinois.

Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, is assisting family with arrangements.

Marcine was first a wife and mom.  She was also a loving sister, daughter, teacher, musician and a globetrotter!  She committed 31 years to teaching military dependents of all service branches overseas.  This meant a lot of time away from her stateside family but it also allowed time to make new friends who became family.  Time to build sand castles in Puerto Rico, climb Mt. Fuji in Japan (3 times!) sail on Subic Bay in the Philippines, cheer on her Kadena High School Panthers on Okinawa and after retirement, entertaining her friends and family at Lake Barkley, Kentucky. However, she was most at home with a book in her hand and her rat terrier Wendy by her side knowing her family is safe, loved, happy and well fed.

Those left to cherish her memory include Oliver, son Kirk (Lisa) Wilson and granddaughter McKenzie all of Eldridge; Kym (David) Leyden of Iowa City; sisters Margery (Denny) Clarke of The Villages, Florida and Marilyn Bugbee of Mahomet, Illinois and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-in-law Barbara Morrissey and Joan McMullen and brothers-in-law Keith McMullen and Dale Bugbee.  Online condolences may be made at Mcginnis-chambers.com.  Memorials may be sent to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan or your local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  There is no doubt she is enjoying a glass of wine on a cloud having earned her wings and silently correcting your grammar.
