Margaret (Yvonne) Cox Voelcker, 86, formerly of Bettendorf and Rock Island, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 26th at Allure of Moline.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 14th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Family will greet friends on that day from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island at a later date.
Margaret was born on February 1, 1938, in Silvis, a daughter of Cleo and Geneva (Smothers) Cox. She was raised in Moline, graduated from Moline High School in 1955, and married Donald Voelcker in Rock Island in April 1959. She worked many jobs at the Rock Island Arsenal over 34 years, ultimately as a computer programmer, before retiring in 1993. She remained (sigh) a loyal Maroons fan all her life.
Margaret was raised in and became a long-time member of the former Moline Gospel Temple. She lived her Christian faith, always having an encouraging word. She was incredibly supportive, loyal and generous with her time, especially for family members and close friends ill or needing any assistance.
Margaret enjoyed romantic and Christmas movies, Danielle Steele novels, and especially traveling for family gatherings. Fondest of her earlier memories included trips to Florida to visit her parents, and to Germany for Christmas visits with her son and his family.
Survivors include her son, Kyle (Madelyn) Voelcker and grandsons, Chandler, Kyle, and Joshua, all of Bettendorf.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Jones, brother, William Cox, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Thanks for everything, Mom. We will love you and cherish your memory forever.
