Margaret E. Schuh, 96, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Private family interment services will be held at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Bettendorf or to the Iowa Commission for the Blind.
She was born August 27, 1907 in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of William J. & Margaret T. (Roach) Marvin. She married Walter S. Wales in Clinton, Iowa in 1935. She later married Robert M. Schuh in Davenport in 1944. He preceded her in death.
Margaret & Robert farmed for many years in Scott County in what is now Scott County Park. In later years her eyesight failed and she attended the Iowa Commission for the Blind School. She then worked for ten years at the Wesley Acres Retirement Home in Des Moines, assisting with the care of others who were blind or sight impaired.
Among the things she enjoyed were crocheting, drawing and spending time in the company of her many friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters & son-in-law, Grace M. & Louis Wilcox of Davenport and Judith A. Lloyd of Brashear, Missouri; her son & daughter-in-law, Richard & Joan Wales of LeClaire; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen; her son, John; her granddaughter, Cathy Wales; five sisters; and four brothers.
