Obituary

Marguerite Muriel Bunn passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at The Fountains in Bettendorf, Iowa. Private burial will be at Union Cemetery in Humboldt, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital (https://uihc.org/donations), reflecting her love and compassion for children, sports and the University of Iowa.

Marguerite, daughter of Harold and Edith (Wells) Cook, was born October 2, 1936 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following her high school graduation, she attended Buena Vista College, where she studied education and met the love of her life, Charles M. Bunn. They were united in marriage on September 1, 1957 in Westbrook, Minnesota. Together they lived in Stoughton, Wisconsin, Exira, Cresco, Grinnell and Humboldt, Iowa, where Marguerite primarily was a housewife, a welcome wagon greeter and very involved in their kids’ activities. Once their kids were a little older, she then worked as a preschool teacher, which she enjoyed immensely.

Marguerite loved singing in the church choir, gardening and attending all of her kids’ and grandkids’ activities, which were mostly sporting events and music concerts. Her life revolved around her husband’s coaching career and her kids. Her greatest joy was her four kids, Julie, Mike, Kim and Jim. She loved the holidays and always made them special and memorable for the family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edith and Harold Cook; her sisters, Twila and Patricia; her brothers Eddie and Bob; and by her husband, Charles, whom she loved dearly and missed daily until her death.

She is survived by her oldest daughter, Julie Copeland and her husband Larry; her eldest son, Mike and his wife Pam; her daughter, Kimberly Bowen and her husband Daryl; her son Jim and his wife, Lisa; her cherished grandkids, Jared and Siara Bunn and their families, Ashley, Miranda and Tyler Copeland and their families, and Cole, Zach and Charlie Bunn, and their families; and her great grandkids, Liam, Tristan, Cayden and Wayne.

As those who loved her, they celebrate a life defined by faith, hope, and unconditional love. Above all, Marguerite believed in Jesus Christ - in His power, His authority, and His grace. Her faith gave meaning to hope and redemption, and it is in that same faith that her family now entrusts her to Him.

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you." Isaiah 43:1–2
