Funeral services for Marjorie (Marge) Schumann, 93, of Bettendorf, will be 11:00 am on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 9:30 am to service time at the funeral home.
Marjorie passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at The Vistas at Bettendorf (Formerly Iowa Masonic Health Facilities), Bettendorf.
Marjorie Dowell was born on September 2, 1930, in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Leslie and Katherine (Bryant) Dowell. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1948. She married Armand Gibeau in June 1948. Later married Keith H. Schumann on October 17, 1958, in Davenport, he preceded her in death on April 7, 1993. She worked at Litton Instruments (formerly Bendix Corp) for 25 years, retiring as Supervisor of Shipping in 1992.
Marjorie was a member of A.A.R.P., Northwest Turners Auxiliary, Bendix-Litton Retirees, and she volunteered at Genesis Medical Center – West Campus. She was active with Hospital Auxiliary Work. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gambling and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play.
Survivors include her daughter, Wendy (Doug Ahnquist) Peterson, 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Ginnie Schumann, sister-in-law, Edith Gibeau and special friend, Darlene Becker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith, daughter, Deborah Phillips, son, Rickey Schumann, brothers, Charles Dowell, Leslie Dowell, sister, Helen Stoneking, and grandson, Heath Peterson.
Memorials may be directed to the Empowering Abilities (formerly Handicapped Development Center), the Special Olympics or to the family.
