Marjorie P. Wheat, 87, of Bettendorf passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at The Vistas in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Vistas of Bettendorf or to St. Croix Hospice.
Marjorie was born on March 18, 1939 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Dorothy (Sheets) Hoffman. On August 8, 1959 she married George Wheat at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waterloo. Marjorie enjoyed playing cards with her friends, bowling, and putt putt golf. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Marjorie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Pauline (Pete) Stauffer of Rock Island, Doneta (Michael) Reeser of Eureka, Illinois, Marty (DeAnne) Wheat of Calamus, Iowa, Bill Wheat of Davenport, Christopher (Tondi) Wheat of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Jackie (Patrick) Elder of Bettendorf; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patricia “Pat” (Ken) Haats and Matt (Annie) Hoffman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George; and sisters, Angie Martin and Diane Hoffman.
