Marvin L. Gott, 83, of Davenport passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27th at Cross Point Baptist Church, Davenport. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the American Cancer Society. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marvin was born on February 21, 1942 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Charles and Marie (McGuire) Gott. He graduated from Centerville High School, class of 1961. On June 30, 1962, he married Carolyn F. Daniel. Marvin worked at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, Illinois as a welder for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1994. He also owned and operated Marv’s Prop Shop. He was a member of the Kaaba Shrine. Marvin enjoyed playing golf and was involved with various leagues in the area. He and his wife also enjoyed ballroom dancing.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Gott of Davenport; his daughters, Lisa (Milo) Neira of Danville, Iowa, Lorrie (Peter) Riverso of Broussard, Louisiana, and Leslie (Joe) Baker of Davenport; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Tonya) Neira, Amanda Neira, Jordan Gott, Jose Baker, Joey (Bri) Baker, Cristal Baker, and JoAnna Riverso; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Jessa, and Raya Neira; a brother, Donnie (Nancy) Gott of Longview, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmy, Albert, Duane, Patty, and Jerry.
