Mary Ann Crooks Beuoy went to her heavenly home on May 3, 2025. She was 89 headed for 90.
Mary Ann was born August 13, 1935 to Wilbur Calvin Crooks and Margaret Louisa Norton Crooks. She had two older brothers, Robert and Thomas (Bob and Tom).
She was married to William Beuoy in 1954 long enough to have two children, Rebecca Ortner and Jay (Debbie) Beuoy.
She was called Ann from school-age onward because there were two other Mary Anns in her first-grade class.
She taught high school biology and life sciences for 30 years in the Liberty-Perry School System and retired in 1992.
Ann loved fiercely and generously. She loved the Lord, her family, her farm, and her dogs. She loved nature and hiking through the woods. She loved sweets, particularly butterscotch, licorice and ice cream. No matter where she was, she was a Hoosier farm girl through and through. She loved to make cookies and fudge and give them away to friends and family. She loved travel and learning. Although Alzheimer’s had diminished the learning in the last few years, she remained enthusiastic that every day was “a beautiful day to be alive.”
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, and her son-in-law, Lyle Ortner. She leaves behind her children, her grandchildren – Kendra Ortner (Marc Friedman), Jared (Alicia) Ortner, Leah (Ryan) Richter, Gwendolyn (Matt) Unruh, and Mary (Rielly) Nemec, and seven great grandchildren, who will remember her with great love.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am with a luncheon following on Saturday, May 31, at the Community of Hope Church, 1968 W. Main Street, Muncie, IN. where those who knew her can share their memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Mary Ann Beuoy Memorial Scholarship at http://libertyperryalumni.com/donate/ for Wapahani HS students going into teaching or nursing.
