Mary L. Ryner, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Harmony Utica Ridge in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded and contributions in her memory may be made to the family.
Mary was born September 3, 1937, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Marie (Swan) Kratzer. She was united in marriage to Thomas Ryner on September 7, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2015.
Mary was employed as a legal secretary for 40 years prior to retirement several years ago. She enjoyed participating in water aerobics, loved wildlife, feeding the birds and appreciated what nature offered to her. The colors turquoise and purple were her favorites.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Nancy Farney of Pueblo West, Colorado; her son, Michael Ryner of Bettendorf; her grandsons, Eli (Natalie) Farney of Denver, Colorado and Jacob (Christi) Farney of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her great-grandchildren Sage, Gavin and Cooper, and her sister Carol Hagman of Peoria, Illinois. Mary also leaves behind many beloved family friends.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Farney; and her beloved cat, “Sampson.”
