Monte Sayles

Monte Sayles, age 62, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 18, 2025 with his sister and brother-in-law at his side.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a private graveside will be held at West Branch Cemetery in West Branch, Iowa. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Monte was born on April 4, 1963 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Everett and Darlys (Weaver) Sayles. He was a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School. He worked with his father to help build the family business of Everett’s Body Shop until his father’s retirement. Monte loved restoring and working on cars, and was proud to mentor and teach a young girl named Leo the skill of autobody work. He loved his new home in Louisiana which was close to family, with cows and alligators for neighbors, calling it his “Land of Milk and Honey.”

Those left to honor his memory are his sister, Shawna (Philip) Durr of Natchitoches, Louisiana; his nephew and niece, Drake and Aryel Durr, cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Scarlett Lynn Sayles; paternal grandparents, Ross & Leona Sayles; and maternal grandparents, Harold & Pearl Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in honor of his mother.
