Nellie Vitosh

Nellie J. Vitosh, 96, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the home of her daughter in Eldridge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge.  Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Disease Association.

She was born October 15, 1926 in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Clara (Bender) Snyder Sr.  On June 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Vitosh in Iowa City, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on November 20, 1988.

Nellie was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who, in earlier years, worked at Curtis Flower Shop in Iowa City, the Gold Bond Stamp Store and the S & H Stamp Store, both in Davenport.

She enjoyed bowling, playing euchre with her friends, puzzles and taking care of her beautiful yard.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Cynthia (Martin) Jensen of Eldridge; her sons, Dale (Sheryl) Vitosh of Coralville, Iowa and Mark (Christine) Vitosh of Leland, Illinois; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, David; and her brothers & sisters, Paul Snyder, William Snyder Jr., Andrew Snyder, Verton Snyder, John Snyder, Delbert Snyder, Lucille Snyder, Arvilla Zook, Darlene Peer, Maggie Boudreaux and Ruby Greazel.
