Nita L. Popp, 80, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
A private family service will be held. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County, Iowa.
Nita was born January 4, 1930 the daughter of Leroy & Anita (Schlapkohl) Johnston. She was united in marriage to Arthur W. Popp on October 14, 1950 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa.
Nita was a homemaker who enjoyed golf and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Arthur; her daughters, Kristy (Dennis) Crigler, Springfield, Virginia and Susan (Michael) Leight, Bettendorf, Iowa; her grandchildren, Amy Starin, Ross Crigler and Rachel Crigler and her great-grandchildren, Reagan and Delaney Starin.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents.
