Obituary

Funeral services for Otto H. “Bud” Marion, 82, of Bettendorf, IA, will be 10:00 am on Thursday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, IA. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL where military rites will be conducted. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, IA. 

Otto passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family, on Friday, April 10, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis, Davenport, IA.

Otto was born on November 28, 1943, in Davenport, IA, the son of Otto and Winola (Felske) Marion. He graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1962. He worked for Local 537, Operating engineers in 1962. He then joined the Navy in 1963 where he was assigned to the MGB4 seabees and served two tours in Vietnam. In 1967 he came back and worked for Local #537 until 1973. He then worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a General Maintenance Supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He married Susan Jameson on October 5, 1985, in East Moline, IL.

Otto and Susan traveled all over the lower 48 states, Alaska and some of Canada. He was a member of Our Savion Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, IA. since 1959, and was also a member of the R.V. Association. He enjoyed golf and was an avid car enthusiast. Otto was a member of the Quad City Mustang Club. He owned and showed his black 1995 Mustang and won a Silver Medal with it in 2018. He also showed a red 2017 and won two gold medals, one in 2024 and one in 2025.

Survivors include his wife, Susan of Bettendorf, IA, brother, Clyde Marion of San Diego, CA. and sister-in-law, Kathy Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Bradley Marion and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
