Patrick T. Tray, 71, of Riverdale, Iowa passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, LeClaire. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pat was born October 20, 1954 in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Paul and Margaret (Snook) Tray. He met Judy Jones in Ottumwa and the two were married in 1975. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the Quad Cities, where they built their life and raised their family. They shared 51 happy years of marriage and had two children, Steve Tray and Ann (Jeff) Pottratz. Pat was a proud Papa to his three grandsons, Jacob, Ryan, and Charlie.

Pat retired from Alcoa in 2008 after 31 years working in crane repair and mill maintenance. He took pride in his work and was known for being someone who could figure things out and fix just about anything.

He was a member of the Hawkeye Fly Fishing Association and enjoyed fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He especially loved tinkering in his shop, where he could always be found working on one project or another. Pat was the person everyone went to when they needed advice, whether it was about fishing, fixing something, or just about anything else. He was always willing to help.

Those who knew Pat will remember him for his kindness, patience, generosity, and willingness to lend a hand. He was a man who quietly made a difference in the lives of the people around him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife, Judy; his son, Steve Tray of Davenport; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jeff Pottratz of Bettendorf; his grandsons, Jacob, Ryan, and Charlie Pottratz; and siblings, Cece Thompson, Denise (Dave) Hull, Thad (Shelly) Tray, Jim (Joni) Tray, and Joe (Dawn) Tray.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Tray; and his brother, Michael Tray.
