Penny J. Canning

Penny J. Canning, 56, of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 with her family peacefully by her side at her home.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Izaak Walton League, 8402 N. Harrison Street in Davenport.

Penny was born February 23, 1969 in Davenport, the daughter of Sam & Anita (Meier) Thorndike. She was united in marriage to Kevin M. Canning on November 17, 2018 at their home in Eldridge.

Penny was employed as a broker with Ecogistics. Penny enjoyed spending most of her free time with friends and family. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength and courage.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Kevin; her daughters, Kayla (Louis) Artioli of Eldridge, Kayla Canning (Mario Toledo) of Rock Island, Illinois and Kelly Canning of Rock Island; her granddaughter, Charlotte; her sister, Brenda (Brad) McCoy of Davenport; her brothers, Brian (Shelby) Thorndike of Davenport and Paul (Rachel) Thorndike of Davenport; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has shown their love and support over the past year. Your kindness has meant the world to us.
