Rhonda G. Johnson, 74, of Bettendorf passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Bettendorf Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Friday, May 1st at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Rhonda was born on December 22, 1951 in Davenport, the daughter of James and Bobbie (Bevell) Jackson. On April 11, 1970, she married Steven A. Johnson in Milan, Illinois. Rhonda worked as a teacher’s aide for the Black Hawk Area Special Education District. She opened her heart and her home to foster children and was an exceptional foster mom. She was known for her love of animals and always had dogs and cats as pets. Rhonda was well known for her poetry and once wrote a poem for President Bill Clinton. It was a proud moment when he responded with a letter of gratitude! Rhonda enjoyed going camping with her husband, dancing, crafting, doll making, and spending time with her family.
Those left to honor her memory are her son, Nickolas Johnson of Davenport; grandchildren, Nikole and Nathan Johnson of Bettendorf; step-grandson, Timothy Johnson of Allen, Texas; brother, Robert (Sherri) Jackson of Searcy, Arkansas; nieces, Ashley (Dan) Schweikhard of Denver, Colorado, Hallie (Jake) Eldridge of Searcy; nephews, Craig (Nancy) Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris (Carol) Jackson of Jacksonville; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steven; brother, Larry Jackson; step-son, Scott Johnson; great-nephew, Colton Jackson; two aunts; and many cousins.
