Funeral services for Richard Henry Malone Sr, 87, of Bettendorf, will be 11:00 am on Saturday, May 24,2025, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.Family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00 am to service time at the funeral home.Richard passed away on Wednesday, May 7,2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Richard was born on July 13, 1937, in Silver Creek, NE, the son of Thomas and Alice (Zabka) Malone. He married Elizabeth A. Madden on June 12, 1957, in Davenport and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2024.After their wedding they relocated to Grand Prairie, Texas where Richard was employed by the City of Arlington for 10 years until the family moved to Bettendorf. He worked for the City of Bettendorf Street Department for 27 years,retiring in 1994. While working for the City of Bettendorf he also volunteered as a fireman for Bettendorf for 13 years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, camping,hunting, family vacations, and going to the casinos.
Survivors include his children, Richard (Paula) Malone Jr. of Orange, CA,Carla Lowry of Davenport, grandchildren, Anne Jolly, Connor Malone, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his daughters,Alice Newcomb and Julie Mirfield, a grandson Russell Jolly and he was the last surviving sibling of 15 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House,Bettendorf.
