Richard A. "Dick" Landsness

April 1, 1949 — April 22, 2023

Richard A. "Dick" Landsness, 74, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with heart disease. He was born April 1, 1949 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Bernard & Lucille (Maly) Landsness.

On July 25, 1970, Richard married Debra N. Bollig in Madison. He was a dedicated and successful Sr. Sales Engineer at Rockwell Automation for 45 years, known for his problem-solving skills and exceptional service to customers. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went.

In retirement, Richard embraced the role of CEO, Having Fun. He cherished time spent “Up North” in Eagle River, Wisconsin, trying to catch the fish of 10,000 casts: the elusive Muskie, but he could always catch a good sunset; hobbies included walking, woodworking, model railroading, and crafting speedy pinewood derby cars with his son and grandsons. An avid sports fan, he supported the Packers, Badgers, and NASCAR, but nothing compared to cheering on his grandsons at their games.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Jennifer (Lance) Leslie of Bettendorf, Sara (Jason) Doxsee of Crown Point, Indiana and David Landsness of Seattle, Washington; his grandchildren, Jack, Henry and Charlie Leslie and his step-grandchildren, Nolan and Alec Doxsee; his step-great-grandson, Liam Doxsee; his sister, Debbie (Ronald) Schultz of DeForest, Wisconsin; his sisters-in-law, Linda Bollig, Cindy (Doug) Horstmeier and Vicki (Vern) Treinen; his brothers-in-law, Jeff (Cheryl) Bollig, Bill Bollig and Scott Bollig. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Linus & Shirley Bollig; and his brother-in-law, Doug Bollig.

A family celebration of his life will be held in the summer. Share condolences with the family by visiting Richard’s obituary at www.McGinnis-Chambers.com.
