Rick E. Major, 51, of Davenport, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at his residence after an extended illness.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Scott County or to an animal rescue group of the donor’s choice.
Rick was born October 11, 1960, in Moline, the son of Kenneth W. and Mary Lou (Kelsey) Major.
He had been employed at Gordman’s in Davenport. Rick loved the company of all animals and he also enjoyed gardening and art.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Jacqueline (William) Wollenburg of Des Moines; his brothers, David Major of Davenport and Dale (Marsha) Major of Bettendorf; and his nieces and nephews, Kate Wollenburg, Tyler Major, Alexa Major and Kyle Major.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Ann Major.
