August 9, 1930 – February 16, 2026
Robert J. Berry, 95, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Unity Point Health in Bettendorf.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, the Wounded Warriors Project or Ducks Unlimited.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 9, 1930, the son of Walter and Marian (Wennerstrom) Berry Sr. In 1951, he entered the U.S. Army and upon his honorable discharge in 1953, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal of Japan.
On October 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Vera May Lybeck in Bettendorf, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 8, 1992.
Robert was a “Jack of All Trades” and worked in various mechanical positions over the years. He had also been employed as a truck driver, a welder and parks groundskeeper.
For over 31 years, he served as a volunteer with the Bettendorf Fire Department. He was also a member of RAKKASANS (187th Airborne) and the Korean War Veteran’s Association. In his spare time, he loved to go hunting, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing golf, photography and painting.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Connie Drevich of Davenport; his son, Charles (Debra) Berry of Palmyra, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Stephen Berry and Leslie Floeter; and his great-grandchildren, Lana, Elvin and Ivan.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Elo; his brothers, Walter Berry Jr. and Edward Berry; and his great-granddaughter, Stephanie.
