Roger Lynn
Carlson
November 16, 1959 – January 25, 2026
Memorial services for Roger L. Carlson, 66, of Rock Island, IL will be 11:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Bettendorf. Inurnment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL., where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion #26, Davenport, IA. Family will greet friends on Friday from 10:00 am to service time at the church.
Roger passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
He was born in Moline on November 16, 1959, to Lennart Carlson and Jean Clayton.
Roger worked in many places over the years mainly as a technician or in maintenance and installing, but his last job before retiring was as a Field service Tech with Southern Carlson. His most prideful achievement was serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Reserve rank sergeant from 1981-1987.
Roger was a do-it-yourself kind of guy; there was nothing he could not tackle inside or outside the house. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but his greatest passion over the past 15 years was playing the guitar and singing and that was a passion because he was a great entertainer and he was called by his music friends “True Story Roger” because he said about any song he sang “True Story”. Roger loved people and always enjoyed being around them and up until he passed away, he was always surrounded by his loved ones and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his dad, Lennart Carlson and his mom, Jean Clayton.
He is survived by his wife, Lina; children; Justin (Shelly) in Colorado, Evan (James) in Milwaukee, Amanda (Donald) in Aledo, grandchildren; Christopher, Abigail and Emma, Justin Carlson.
Roger will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
