Rose L. Lensing

Rose L. Lensing, 74, of Bettendorf passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Unity Point Health, Bettendorf.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Rose was born June 13, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leland and Dorothy (Murach) Moore.  After graduating in 1967 from Bettendorf High School, she continued her education at St. Luke’s Training School for Nurses in Davenport.  On April 3, 1971, she married John A. Lensing in Bettendorf.  As an Army wife, she was stationed in various locations including Hawaii and Germany, where she worked as an Army clinic nurse.  Upon returning to the Quad Cities, Rose worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and later Genesis Medical Center.  She was a devoted nurse for 50 years and specialized in psychiatric care. Rose loved animals, especially birds.  She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds around her home.  She will be fondly remembered as an excellent cook, proud Republican, and for the love she had for her family.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, John Lensing of Bettendorf; children, Julie Stephens of Bettendorf, April (Daniel) Novotny of Marion, Iowa, Chris (Heidi) Lensing of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Kyle (Jessica) Picha of Bettendorf; six grandchildren, Justis (Easton) Burgin, Cullen and Mattias Lensing, Lillian and Waverly Novotny, Angelo Guerrero; and two great-grandchildren, Jentri and Remi Burgin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leland; her mother and step-father, Dorothy and LeRoy Picha; and her sister, Theresa Picha.
