Rosie Williamson Hunt

March 16, 1933 — July 12, 2025

Bettendorf

Rosie Williamson Hunt walked freely into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 12, 2025, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Her family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Hope Church, 5019 Hopewell Ave. in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Rosie will be laid to rest at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Memorials may be made to her family.

Rosie Mae Swain was born in Whitley County, Kentucky to parents William Swain and Sarah Swain. They later moved to the mountains outside of a waterfall in Tennessee when she grew up. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work and family. On January 8, 1951, she married Clarence C. Williamson in LaFollette, Tennessee, building a life together that spanned many years and memories. Later, on August 4, 1979, she married Damon K. Hunt in Jellico, Tennessee, adding more chapters to her story.

No longer bound by the troubles and pain of this world, she now lives in freedom and peace. Rosie lived a life marked by quiet strength, hard work, and a heart full of loving kindness. She never said goodbye without telling you that she genuinely loved you. Her love for her friends could only be surpassed by the unwavering deep love she felt for her family. She was an accomplished seamstress, loved working with her hands crocheting beautiful afghans, doilies and butterflies that she loved to give away to family and friends. She helped anyone in need and had a great gift of knowing when anyone needed help. She devoted her unselfish life with great generosity to be a helper of all mankind.

Rosie wasn’t one to sit still. Throughout her life, she worked in several roles, always giving her best—whether running a drill press at J.I. Case in Bettendorf, helping patients as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, or welcoming shoppers as a greeter at Walmart, where her friendly smile brightened many days. She also spent time at the Hansaloy Corporation and Oscar Mayer in earlier years.

Yet, above all, her greatest joy was her family and the time that she spent with them. She was a devoted mother, and loving grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother whose life was guided by faith, compassion, and pure love. Rosie was a faithful follower of the Lord and enjoyed reading poems and watching religious TV shows and gospel music.

Those who will always carry Rosie’s memory in their hearts include her daughters: Joyce (Christopher) Czyzun of Richland, Washington; Sandra (Rex) Williamson-Taber of Summerville, South Carolina; and Judy Treimer of Bettendorf; her son, Dennis Williamson of Davenport; along with ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Rosie was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Clarence and Damon, as well as her ten siblings—a family legacy now reunited in peace. Rosie will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A special thank you to The Vistas in Bettendorf for their special care.
