Russel F. Shouse, 78, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Thursday, April 07, 2005 at Crest Health Care Center, Davenport.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 11, 2005 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born May 8, 1926 in Beardstown, Illinois, the son of Charles Russel & Rowena Lee (Moss) Shouse and served in the Merchant Marine. On September 9, 1945, he was united in marriage to Helen E. “Holly” Herbert in Beardstown.
Russel was employed as a meat cutter and meat department manager at Eagles Food Stores for 30 years and was a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 431.
Among the things he enjoyed were playing golf, fishing and bowling. Russel was a “people person” and loved the times spent with his many friends and his beloved family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Holly; his daughters & sons-in-law, Pamela & Kevin Kerker of Dover, Pennsylvania, Pennie & Rick Engler of Donahue, Iowa and Brenda & Joe Drummond of Long Grove, Iowa; his sons & daughter-in-law, Gary & Schary Shouse of Plymouth, Minnesota and Carey-John Shouse of Moline, Illinois; his grandchildren, Pete, Katie, Jenny, Becky, Valerin, James, Rachel, Nikki & Ben; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Phyllis Smith and Lula Little, both of Beardstown, Illinois; numerous nieces & nephews; and his “moving buddy” whom he thought of as a son, Bob Perkins of Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Dorothy Lee.
