Obituary

Russell L. Huebner, 77, of LeClaire, passed away due to complications of aplastic anemia and pneumonia on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Mercy One Genesis, Davenport.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Memorials may be directed to Rock Island County Animal Control, 4001 78th Ave., Moline, Illinois 61265.

Russell was born on July 27, 1949 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Ervin and Elaine (Mohr) Huebner. He grew up in Camanche and enjoyed the summers he spent traveling by boat on the Mississippi River with his brother to visit their Grandma Mohr in Sabula. Russell served in the U.S. Army as a diesel mechanic while stationed in Germany. On October 12, 1974, he married Mardel “Mardi” Schnoor at Zion Lutheran Church. He worked on the printing press at International Paper in Clinton, Iowa for many years. Russell was an independent, caring, loyal, and quiet man with a dry sense of humor. He often left his feline companion, Lily, mesmerized by his quiet voice and demeanor. He had many interests including short car trips, trains, and following the stock market.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mardi of LeClaire; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard.
