Sandra B. “Sandi” Groover, 66, of Bettendorf passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Mercy One Genesis, Davenport.

      Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline.

       Sandi was born on December 18, 1959 in Davenport, the daughter of Edgar and Marguerite (Comer) Groover. She graduated from Bettendorf High School, class of 1978. She worked in housekeeping at Voyager Inn, Davenport for 15 years. On June 25, 1981, she married Steven Horton in Davenport. Sandi enjoyed playing in the dirt and had a knack for vegetable and flower gardening. She held a special place in her heart for animals and would do what she could to help any in need. Sandi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her family was the light of her life.

      Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Steven Groover of Bettendorf; her sons, Steven (Simone) Groover of Clinton, Iowa and David Groover of Bettendorf; a grandson, Paxton Groover; and sisters, Helen (Merlin) Platt of Davenport and Sharon (Tom) Simon of Davenport.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Sue and Buck Groover.
