Therese M. Carrillo

February 18, 1933 — November 14, 2025

Therese M. Carrillo, 92, of Rock Island, Illinois passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at Friendship Manor.

Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. A private family burial will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Therese was born on February 18, 1933 in Austria, the daughter of Josef and Theresia (Moosbauer) Bruckermayr. She lived through WWII and met her husband, Christopher, after the war. They immigrated to America with their oldest daughter in 1955. Eventually the family relocated to Iowa where Christopher had a family home. Therese raised six children while also working part time at the Kahl Home. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and her duties involved caring for the retired and infirmed priests and residents. She retired in 1998 after 40 years of service. Therese was known for her beautiful flower gardens and she enjoyed playing Bingo, dice, and cards. She had a passion for ballroom dancing. But mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her daughters traveling and visiting many places. She was loved and will be deeply missed by all.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Ingrid (William) Gerth of Eldridge, Christine Carroll of Rock Island, Sandra Carrillo of Davenport, Irene Carrillo of Chicago, and Christopher Carrillo of Rock Island; son-in-law, Dr. Grant Ray of South Africa; six grandchildren, Bradley Ray, Dr. Matthew Ray, Dr. Jonathan (Dr. Haley) Ray, Jeremy Gerth, Justin Gerth, and Jason Carrillo; four great-grandchildren, Theo Ray, Andrew Gerth, Lilian (Jack) Hinton, and Gracie Gerth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Christopher, and a daughter, Elvira Ray; and her siblings. Therese spent the last few years at Friendship Manor and the family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their care.
