Obituary

Timothy Martin Reickard, 81, of Eldridge, Iowa passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Eldridge United Methodist Church, Eldridge, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago, Illinois, or the Eldridge United Methodist Church. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tim was born May 27, 1945, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Harold and Colleen Reickard. His family moved to Davenport, Iowa, when he was young and he graduated from West High School in 1963 where he participated in music. He married Carolyn Thrasher in 1964. Together they had two sons, Richard Martin Reickard and Ronald Lewis Reickard. He married Linda Shanks in 1971. Together they had two sons, Chad Alan Reickard and Jared Scott Reickard.

He worked for Alcoa after graduation and then started an apprenticeship with Local 387 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and became a journeyman steamfitter in 1974. Besides working in the trades, he was an apprentice teacher for eight years and attended Purdue University for apprentice teacher training. He retired from Local 25 at the end of 2004 after 35 years in the trade.

Tim was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader in Donahue and Eldridge. He accompanied scouts on many camping trips to Camp Loud Thunder, Camp Minneyata, and the Boundary Waters.

He volunteered at the local food pantry, the library, and the Eldridge United Methodist Church where he was a church member and sang in the choir for many years.

Tim loved reading, working crossword puzzles, gardening, canning, camping, fishing, and working in his shop.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 55 years, Linda; son Ronald, Phoenix, Arizona, Chad (Kristin) of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Jared (Crystal) of Port Byron, Illinois; grandchildren, Elliana, Jaevan, Aria, Jessamina, Kai, Jordan, Devan, and a step-grandson, Skylar (Jessica) Garcia, and sibling Joyce Gabriel of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, his son, Richard, sisters Judith and Lynn, and grandchildren, Kael and Tyler.
