Vernon C. Smith Jr., 64, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died at his home on Monday, March 22, 2010.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born February 21, 1946 in Ada, Minnesota, the beloved son of Vernon C. & Esther E. (Annis) Smith and was a 1964 graduate of Bettendorf High School
Vern was employed for a number of years as a parts courier for Dahl Ford of Davenport.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Diane (Doyle) Jones of Peoria, Illinois; his nephews, Brian (Ranessa) Jones of Bloomington, Illinois and Gary Jones of Peoria; his niece, Karen (Jake) Putzler of Montgomery, Illinois; one grand-niece and another expected soon; four grand-nephews; an uncle, several aunts, cousins and many dear friends from the Bettendorf area.
His parents, Vernon & Esther Smith and his cousin, Gary Gullingsrud preceded him in death.
