Vivian H. Conklin, 92, of Davenport passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Country Manor, Davenport.
Private family graveside services were held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Genesis Hospice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vivian was born on October 10, 1927 in Davenport, the daughter of Carl and Frances (Buttgen) Peters. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1945. Throughout her life, Vivian worked at various grocery stores including Barnes Super Value, National T, Randalls, Conklin’s Foods, and Save A Lot. For 38 years she owned and operated Vivian’s Tap in Davenport. She was active in the American Legion Auxillary for many years, an avid Euchre player, and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Christy (Tom) Bednarik of Phoenix, Arizona, Cathy (Dave) Ehrecke of LeClaire, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sharon Conklin of Bettendorf; seven grandchildren, Michael Bednarik, Andee (Tim) Jansen, Aric (Jen) Wouters, Megan (Ben) Holland, Nick Conklin, Curt Conklin, Kelly (Brett) Fahrenkrug; seven great-grandchildren, Kirsten Conklin, Carter and Kailyn Bednarik, Xiomara and Fox Holland, Addison Wouters, and Donny Fahrenkrug.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donny Conklin; sisters, Evelyn Michl and Beverly Wellendorf; and brothers, Merle and Warren Peters.
