Wayne Straight

Wayne A. Straight, 92, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Manor Care-Utica Ridge in Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral Services & Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.

Wayne was born January 15, 1927 in Sparta, Michigan, the son of Lynnis & Eva (Bird) Straight.  He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Coast Guard and Navy.  He was united in marriage to Latricia Darlene Painter on September 17, 1983.

Wayne had worked on the railroads while in his 20’s and had been employed as a warehouse supervisor for TruValu.  He had also most recently driven a limousine in Chicago.

Those left to honor Wayne’s memory include his wife, Latricia; his daughter, Christine Lambert of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his sons, Herbert Andrew “Drew” Painter (Timothy Scott Kugelman) of Bettendorf and Arnold Roy Painter III of West Chicago, Illinois; his grandchildren, Tara Nicole “Nix” Painter, Jennifer Gomez and William Jeremy Lambert; and his brothers, Ronald Straight, Richard Straight, Warren Straight and Norman Straight.
