Bonne Lorenzen

April 17, 1941 — July 2, 2019

Bonne Lorenzen, 78, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf following a brief & courageous battle with cancer.

A service to celebrate her life will be at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 20th at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church or the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.

She was born in Davenport on April 17, 1941, the daughter of Alan and F. Evelyn (Spafford) Page. On August 5, 1972, she was united in marriage to John M. Lorenzen in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2009.

Bonne was a registered nurse, receiving her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from the University of Iowa. She received additional training at Vanderbilt Scarritt School of Nursing in Nashville and later, earned her Master of Science Nursing Degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Bonne’s career in nursing and nursing education began as a medical missionary in Wonju, Korea from 1964-1969. Upon returning to the United States, she taught nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois for one year. Bonne returned to the Quad-Cities and worked as an instructor and later became the Director of the former Moline Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. After the mergers forming United Medical Center and later Trinity Medical Center, Bonne transitioned into staff education, working for these organizations for nearly 35 years. Additionally, Bonne spent time as a nursing instructor at Blackhawk College, Marycrest College and Scott Community College.

Bonne traveled the world extensively with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed cruising and always photographed her travels.  She also enjoyed cross-stitch and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren.  Bonne was an active and faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was an important part of the bell choir and served as a tireless volunteer both within her church and in the community.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Kim (Andy) Ranson of Long Grove, Iowa and Kara (James) Huntsberger of Durant, Iowa; her grandchildren, Austin, Kahlen, Emmalia, Kaden and Morgan; and her brother, Howard (Beverly) Page of Kona, Hawaii.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
