Jerry Caldwell Sr.

Jerry Lee Caldwell Sr., 75, a resident of Davenport died on Tuesday,  September 1, 2020 at Unity Point Trinity in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf and will be live-streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page.  Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.  Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born in Davenport on July 30, 1945, the son of Floyd and Patricia (O’Brien) Caldwell.  On June 19, 1993, he was united in marriage to Kristine (Voss) Charles in Davenport.

During the Vietnam Conflict, he served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam an Infantryman and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Service Bars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.

Jerry worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years before retiring.

In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kristine; his daughter, Shelly (Kenneth) Bushnell of Bettendorf; his sons, Jerry L. (Kim) Caldwell Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Brian Caldwell of Davenport; his grandchildren, Ashley (Nathaniel) Howard, Brooke Jasper, Zachary Jasper, Emily Jasper and Grace Jasper, Brianna Charles, Katelyn Caldwell, Joseph Caldwell and Nathan Blackcloud-Caldwell; seven great-grandchildren; his step-grandsons, Jacob Bushnell, Joshua Bushnell and Adam Bushnell; his sisters, Doreen (Steve Wilford) Maynard, Denise (Edward) Shade and Dietta (Vern) Langtimm; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his daughters, Lisa Keis and Kristy Charles; his grandson, Mitchell Stradt; his sisters, Debbie Reeser and Anna Caldwell; his brother, Benny Caldwell; and his parents.
