John Walker

Memorial services for John Terrill Walker, 72, of Walcott, will be 1:00 pm on Friday, February 12, 2021 at  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, IA.  Inurnment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Friday from 11:00 am to service time at the funeral home. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

John passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport.

John Terrill Walker was born on May 1, 1948 in Davenport, the son of John and Phyllis (Dierdoff) Walker. He married Diane Wallrech, together they had two sons, John and Brad. He then married Roberta Perkins on August 26, 1976, they had two daughters, Rebecca and Jessica. He worked as a Tool and Die maker at the former Bendix and then as a supervisor of maintenance, retiring from Carleton in 2011.

Over the years he enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports, especially soccer. He loved Iowa Hawkeyes and watching them play any sport. Every July he would be spotted running in and later cheering on the participants in the Bix 7 road race. He loved camping, fishing at his cabin on the Cedar River. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He would always be trusted to volunteer as a dessert taste-tester.

He is survived by his wife; Roberta, sons: John Walker, Brad (Andrea) Walker, daughters; Rebecca (Robbie) Seals, Jessica (Dan) Osborn, grandchildren; Madison, Austin and Owen Walker, Aislynn and Airavin Seals, Payton and Jaxon Osborn,  sisters; Sandra Keim, Mary (Bill) Karr, Denise (Raymond) Salemink, Jill Peterson, and brother; Bruce (Sally) Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Sharon Sterner, and grandsons, Will and Jack.
