Larry Ledvina

Funeral services for Larry Ledvina, 78, of Bettendorf will be 11:00 am on Monday at Bettendorf Christian Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Family will greet friends on Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.

Larry passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Larry was born on November 18, 1942 in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Elward and Doris (Barnhart) Ledvina. He grew up in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He married Sherrill Lendt on February 26, 1961 in Clarence, Iowa.  He worked at Alcoa as a pipefitter and supervisor in the Maintenance Department for 37 years, retiring in 1998. While at Alcoa he met many lifelong friends who he kept in touch with through the years.  He was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Family was very important to him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, always finding away to attend their activities, whether it was a sporting event or a play. Larry’s favorite times were when he was surrounded by family and friends. Recently Larry and Sherry celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with family in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Larry is survived his wife, Sherry of Bettendorf, son; Joe (Nancy) Ledvina of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, daughter; Lori Frye of Peoria, Illinois, grandchildren; Stefanie, Stacie (Nick), Brandon, Ryan (Taylor), Carrie, Shane, great-grandchildren; Grayson, Holle, Harper, Nora, Hudson, and brother; Lonnie (Cindy) Ledvina of DeWitt, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marlys Smothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bettendorf Christian Church, Bettendorf, or Gospel Broadcasting Mission. The family wishes to thank the staff at Senior Star Memory Care at Elmore Place for their compassion and the loving care they gave Larry.
