Richard Clark

Richard R. Clark, 90, of Donahue, Iowa, formerly of Eldridge, Iowa passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Eldridge.  Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge.  Those attending are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.  Burial will be at Confidence Cemetery, Confidence, Iowa on Saturday at 11:30a.m.  Memorials may be directed to Cornerstone Baptist Church or to Hospice Compassus.

Richard was born on September 8, 1930 in rural Wayne County, Iowa the son of Clourus and Mae (Brown) Clark.  In June of 1951, he married Gertrude L. Greenfield.  He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for four years until his honorable discharge in 1955. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked as a tool and die maker at M.A. Ford in Davenport for 38 years. Richard was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the National Model Railroad Association.  He enjoyed coin collecting and was a model railroad enthusiast.

Those left to honor his memory are his daughter, Susan (David) Newsum of Donahue; his son, Steven (Janet) Clark of Collinsville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Stephanie, Ashley, and Nathan; ten great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Ralph Greenfield of Waco, Texas; and a niece and nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude, in August of 2020; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister in infancy.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Edwards for his care and compassion over the years, as well as to the staff at Hospice Compassus for their dedicated service.
