Roosevelt Smith, Sr.

Roosevelt Smith Sr., 58, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Roosevelt was born on September 1, 1961 in Chicago, the son of Edna L. Smith.  On October 14, 1999 he married Erica Gales in Davenport.  Roosevelt worked the majority of his life for various foundries and warehouses.  He later worked at Mo Brady’s and most recently he was employed by River Music Experience doing event set-up.  He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed fishing, especially with his boys and his brother, Tyrone.  Roosevelt loved music and he loved it played loud.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Erica Smith of Davenport; mother, Edna Smith of Davenport; children, Roosevelt Smith Jr., Jasmine Gales, Nicholas Smith, DeTarius Smith, all of Davenport; numerous siblings; special siblings, Tyrone (Janice) Williams, Wilma Lagrone, Millard Lagrone, Mary Gardner, Shirley Smith and Helen Thomas; 5 grandchildren, JahZyiah, JahKyra, JahKarli, NaKayden, Karian; and uncles, Tommie (Kathy) Smith, Jack (Karla) Smith, all of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, John Thomas; sisters, Elizabeth Tyson, Juanita Lagrone; brother, Sterling Buckingham; uncle, Robert Smith; and his maternal grandparents, James and Clara Smith.
