Obituary

Rozema “Rosie” R. Ritter, 88, of Davenport passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society, Davenport.

          Private family graveside services will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Good Samaritan Society, Davenport.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

          Rosie was born on December 18, 1931 in Ava, Missouri, the daughter of Otis and Ethel (Simmons) Strong.  On August 14, 1954 she married Clifford R. Ritter in Ava.  She worked as a crossing guard for the City of Bettendorf, and later retired from HyVee in Bettendorf.  Rosie enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a very talented porcelain doll maker.

          Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Shirley (Dan) Hoover of Davenport; son, Rick (Monica) Ritter of Bettendorf; 7 grandchildren, Richard (Christine) Hoover of LeClaire, Michael Hoover of Davenport, Melissa (Keith) Sineath of Bettendorf, Benjamin Gheer of Bettendorf, Amanda (Phil) Anderson of Wisconsin, Vanessa Ritter of Bettendorf, Robby Washam of Florida, Franki Ritter of Bettendorf; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.    

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; sister, Dorothy Hanna; and brother, Elmer Strong.
