Sheryl Sturgell-Cosner

June 11, 1966 — May 19, 2022

Sheryl J. Sturgell-Cosner, 55, of McCausland, Iowa passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services.  Memorials may be directed to McCausland United Methodist Church.  McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sheryl was born on June 11, 1966 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Norma J. “Jean” (Morris) Hayes.  She attended Moline High School.  Sheryl was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma.  She was a caretaker by nature, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She had a love for all animals, enjoyed gardening, and was known for her delicious baked goods and cooking.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Tim Cosner of McCausland; mother and step-father, Norma “Jean” and Roger Teal of Sugar Grove, Illinois; father and step-mother, Melvin and Sharon Hayes of Moline, Illinois; daughter, Sydnee Cosner of Davenport; sons, Andrew (Ashley) Sturgell of North Carolina, Cody Sturgell of McCausland, Tyler Cosner of Davenport, and Brian Weaver of Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Emery, Jameson, Greyson, Anela, Nova, Luna, and Skyla; brothers, Tim (Jill) Hayes of Sugar Grove, Jeff (Gina) Hayes of Zionsville, Indiana, Patrick Thompson of Davenport, Iowa; sister, Jennifer (Nick) Mason of Orion, Illinois and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Karen Lyn Hayes; nephew, Grant Hayes; her parents-in-law, Charles and Nancy Cosner; and brother-in-law, Thomas Cosner.
