Stephen C. Belk, 65, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, surrounded by his family and some of his dearest friends. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 6400 Crow Creek Road in Bettendorf. Steve was a faithful and well-loved member of the church, serving as head deacon and in many other roles over the years.
Born in Davenport, Iowa, on October 23, 1955, he was the son of John Henry and Alma Magdalena (Reitz) Belk. His mother and sisters raised him. He married Twila Francisco of Pleasant Valley on September 23, 1977.
After working at Coca Cola for a number of years, he established T&S Vending and StraightWay, a Christian bookstore in Davenport.
Steve was a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He also was a big fan of Colorado, the Chicago Cubs, Whitey’s ice cream, and saying “I can fix that out in the garage.”
While his family grieves their loss, they rejoice in knowing he is now walking, running, and dancing with Jesus in his eternal home. It is well.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Twila; his daughter, Laney (Devin) McDougal of Chicago; his sons, Ryan (Kara) Belk of Iowa City, and Jesse Belk of Davenport; his grandchildren, Dylan, Leo, Samson, and Noel; his sisters, Ruth Stivers of Davenport and Gail Otto of Maysville, Iowa. His parents and his brothers-in-law, Bob Stivers and Marv Otto, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PVBC Deacon Fund.
For those that cannot attend, the Memorial Service will be livestreamed by clicking the link at the bottom of this page at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
