Walter Jindresek

December 18, 1926 — January 3, 2020

Walter A. Jindresek, 93, a resident of Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Unity Point Trinity in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted.  Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Parish Nurse Program.

He was born in Bettendorf on December 18, 1926, the son of Vlada and Mary (Gabriel) Jindresek and was a graduate of Davenport High School.  On September 26, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joanne M. Sautter in Bettendorf.

Walt worked as a millwright for the Case-IH Company in East Moline, Illinois, retiring after 25 years of service.  In earlier years, he worked as a millwright in numerous construction projects in the Quad-Cities.  He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128 of Bettendorf and the Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge 201.

Walt was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II, was re-called to active duty during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in June of 1952.

He enjoyed caring for his garden, loved animals, was an avid bowler and liked watching football on TV.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joann; his daughters, Nancy (Jim) Haertjens of Davenport, Ronda (Bill) George of Davenport and Debbie (Paul) Heeren of Guilford, Connecticut; his son, Wally Jindresek of Davenport; his grandchildren, Michael George, Victoria Edwards, Dr. James Heeren, Melanie Heeren, Bryce Haertjens, Lauren Haertjens and Lindsey Haertjens; his great-grandchildren, Megan George, Kasey George, Brandon George and Autumn Edwards; and his sisters, Frieda Houldsworth of Bettendorf and Hattie Mizlo of Lena, Illinois.
